By March 24, not a single party has finalized thier candidates from NA-258 for upcoming polls but Abdul Hakeem Baloch, a candidate from PML-N and possibly backed by alliance of ten political parties, and PPP's candidate be key contesters from the constituency in upcoming polls. It is pertinent to mention that Abdul Hakeem Baloch enjoys a strong political and social support in constituency and he was runner up in 2002 election as a independent candidate. He was formerly associated with PPP and recently left the party on creating differences over a local bodies bill. Local political observers believe that Abul Hakeem Baloch, with support of ten parties , can change the trend by defeating PPP's candidate in this election. On the other hand, PPP's leadership are also aware about recent development and they are fielding a strong candidate instead of Sher Muhammad Baloch, the incumbent MNA, PPP's local leaders say. They opine that Sher Muhammad Baloch is now an aged politician and not comfortable to run election campaign easily. Also voters of the constituency are not happy with him. According to PPP sources, PPP’s leadership has three name to discuss a final candidate for NA-258. The names includes Raja Abdul Razzaq, Salam Murad or Ghulam Murtaza . Political analysts of this constituency believe that first time in the history of this constituency, PPP will face a tough contest in upcoming election.
